Job Description

Under the direction of the Dean of Student Affairs, the Student Research Coordinator will coordinate collaborative research opportunities both inside and outside the University for graduate and undergraduate students to provide functional experience for students towards their future career aspirations in respective fields of study. This position will be responsible for educating students within the University about educational research opportunities and provide necessary support for the students participating in the programs to assist in achieving each of the research opportunity’s goals and qualified success. Additional duties include monitoring, tracking, data collection, evaluation and reporting empirically on the achievement of these research programs and their implications for student success outcomes at the University. The Coordinator will consult directly with departments and faculty regarding these assessments on student success and research programs.

Required Qualifications

EDUCATION:
• Regionally accredited Bachelor’s degree required.

EXPERIENCE:
• 2+ years of experience

Minimum Requirements

KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS /ABILITY:
• Knowledge of higher educational institutions as normally obtained through exposure to a college or university setting.
• Excellent organizational, communication (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
• Must be able to work independently and in a team.
• Ability to multi-task and problem solve is essential.
• Ability to gather data and compile information, and compose correspondence and other written materials effectively.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree preferred.

Essential Duties

• Collaborates with University faculty to develop a catalog of research opportunities, matches students to research opportunities appropriate for their interests, program, and level of education.
• Coordinate and manage potential research activities outside the university including acting as a liaison with corporate organizations as appropriate.
• Develop, maintain and communicate a complete list of internal and external research opportunities for students, faculty and staff to reference.
• Participate in the active development of available research program resources and curriculum through literature searches, contact with outside programs, and review and solicitation of funding opportunities.
• Monitors student research activities and creates reports on outcomes of student research learning objectives.
• Assists students in developing research questions, finding resources, and preparing research findings for publication or presentation to faculty and/or colleagues.
• Develop and maintain web page information for prospective students to learn about potential and ongoing research opportunities being conducted with the University.
• Create presentations and workshops every semester that educate new and/or ongoing students about research opportunities within and outside the University to ease the transition of students into the higher education experience.
• Assist and participate in the formulation and implementation of organizational goals and objectives from research activities. Collect retention-related and student outcome data for the annual evaluation on student success. Participate in regular department and component meetings. Collect statistics on students advised and monitor assessment guidelines.
