Job Description

Under the direction and supervision of the Program Director, teaches the prescribed didactic and clinical curriculum to Physician Assistant students, and evaluates their progress.

Required Qualifications

EDUCATION:
• Regionally accredited master’s degree required.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITY:
• PC proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
• Excellent verbal and written skills; able to summarize and prioritize work product and processes; proactive communication with supervisors, peers and team members to maintain efficiency and productivity and meet deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated excellence in clinical practice.
• Demonstrated leadership and management skills.
• Demonstrated organizational, analysis, planning and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent English-language written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated instructional and presentation skills.
• Knowledge of program and student evaluation systems.
• Knowledge of physician assistant practice laws and an understanding of primary care medicine.
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
• Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information.
• Ability to interface with students, faculty, staff and community members with tact and clarity.
• Flexibility to work overtime and/or weekends as required.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
• Regionally accredited master’s degree required.
• Two or more years in education preferred.
• Two years of experience as a PA in clinical practice preferred.
• One year of teaching experience preferred.

Essential Duties

• Develops and implements instructional methodologies for achieving pre-approved course objectives.
• Plans, presents and evaluates prescribed curriculum.
• Develops and implements methods of student evaluation.
• Evaluates and monitors student progress.
• Counsels students with academic problems.
• Assists or refers students with personal problems.
• Coordinates team teaching responsibilities.
• Develops instructional materials as required.
• Assists with curriculum revision and development.
• Maintains appropriate student records.
• Prepares clear and concise written reports.
• Participates in clinical skills training sessions and other clinical training activities.
• Performs program, college, community and professional service activities.
• Performs research and/or other scholarly activities.
• Participates in completing grant, accreditation and other reports as assigned.
• Participates on program, college, university committees, and attend related functions and program meetings.
• Participates in counseling and informational sessions for program applicants.
• Participates in program recruitment activities.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

ARC-PA Standard A2.05:
Develops, reviews and revises as necessary the mission statement for the program, selecting applicants for admission to the PA program.
Provides student instruction.
Evaluates student performance.
Academic counsel of students.
Assures the availability of remedial instruction.
Designs, implements, coordinates, evaluates curriculum and the program.

Complexity

The ability to perform highly detailed work with sustained attention and care while providing/obtaining information on numerous inquiries is paramount to success in this position.
