The Mervyn M. Dymally School of Nursing is currently seeking a highly qualified administrative nursing professional for the position of Director Entry Level Master’s Track.

Reporting to the Assistant Dean of the School of Nursing, the Director of the Entry Level Master’s (ELM) Track will be responsible for the overall administration and management of the ELM Program; and, will have oversight of the academic, faculty, student, accreditation, and administrative functions of the ELM curriculum of study, designed to be delivered as an innovative immersion learning experience, which utilizes the executive-education format. The Director will assist in strategic planning, curriculum development, mentoring of ELM faculty, and teaching selected graduate courses. The ELM Director will maintain a teaching load as assigned, prepare or contribute to research and scholarly activities, and participate in College and University committees as assigned.

Required Qualifications

•Regionally accredited Master’s degree in nursing required (course work in education or administration will be considered); Doctoral degree in nursing or related field strongly preferred.
•Consideration will be given to candidates nearing completion of their doctoral education.
•Doctoral-prepared applicants may be expected to show evidence of scholarly achievement, including publications and professional presentations, a proven track record in peer-reviewed and externally funded research, and prior academic work.
•Will consider equivalent combination of education and experience as determined by the California Board of Registered Nursing.
•Current, valid licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of California.
•One (1) years’ experience as an administrator with validated performance of administrative responsibilities.
•Two years teaching in pre or post-licensure registered nursing program and one year as a registered nurse providing direct patient care.

Minimum Requirements

Essential Duties

To manage and oversee clinical placement working with the clinical coordinator to ensure progression and ELM program completion:
•Assisting with student advisement, coordination of matters regarding a student’s progress in the program and student discipline.
oArranging clinical placements
oSite visits to new clinical agencies/institutions
oPlan and requests clinical placements

To supervise and assume responsibility for:
•Participation in ongoing advisement and monitoring of students, faculty and ELM program to ensure full compliance with California BRN regulations and other accreditation bodies.
•Demonstrating QSEN competencies.
•Orienting all ELM SON faculty.
•Ensuring that full-time/part-time faculty files are current in regards to RN licensure, CPR, malpractice, background clearance, and health documentation.
•Coordinating and ensuring completion of annual updates of faculty and student handbooks.
•Coordinating the annual evaluation of ELM faculty in accordance with established policies and the MMDSON evaluation committee.

To represent the Nursing Program in:
•Promoting positive relationships with clinical agency personnel, departments on campus, and key community constituents.
•Attending professional, and community meetings.
•Serving as the primary liaison (As Director) to the California BRN for the ELM program.

To maintain faculty responsibility and accountability for:
•Maintaining teaching loads as assigned.
•Participating in research and other scholarly activities.
•Participation in nursing program, college, and university committees as assign.
•Assist with student and faculty recruitment
•Serve on Committee(s)
•Promote external and internal relations with professional and community organizations
•Perform other related duties as assigned
•Teaching load as assigned to meet department instructional needs

The ability to formulate and implement a clear vision for the SON while providing leadership and direction for the faculty, staff, and students is paramount to success in this position.

Special Requirements

Must have on file in the program and with the Board, an approval form signed by the Board staff approving all administrative teaching functions performed in the program as Director.

Ability to work effectively with diverse faculty, staff, and students.

May require being on a hospital floor with up to 10 students from 8-12 hours a day.
